MEET Mrs. Lowe

Teaching is not just a job to me, it is my passion. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in Literacy, both from Missouri State University. I have been in education for sixteen years, including ten years as a kindergarten teacher and six years as an elementary literacy coach. I have also taught education courses at the college level. I have had extensive training in Reading Recovery, Comprehensive Literacy, Cooperative Learning, Cognitive Coaching, and more. I was honored to be selected as Springfield Public Schools Teacher of the Year, and to be a finalist for Missouri Teacher of the Year in 2010. I taught kindergarten in Springfield Public Schools for seven years, and then spent six years coaching and mentoring teachers as a literacy coach/ instructional coach. While I enjoyed this work, I found myself missing the classroom. I was excited to return to the classroom and join the Greenwood family in 2019.

My husband, Bob, and I are both Springfield natives and Greenwood Alumni. We have a ten year-old daughter who attends Greenwood. She is full of energy, curiosity, and JOY! We also have a five year-old rescue dog named Birdie. I love being a part of the Greenwood community as both a faculty member and a parent. As a family, we love to travel to new places and we love visiting national parks. We enjoy hiking, being outdoors, and spending time at the lake or the beach. We are self-proclaimed foodies so we love trying new restaurants and new types of food, especially when we travel. When I am not at school or driving our daughter to various activities, I love reading, cooking, and baking.
